On the Road from Vancouver to Whistler

2007/2007 has already been a phenomenal snow year for Whistler-Blackcomb. With the snow comes visitors from all over the planet which can put some pressure on the Sea to Sky Highway connecting Vancouver and Whistler.

The road has been dramatically improved over the last year but the need for snow ready vehicles is still evident. With flash snow storms a regular occurance police have started requiring snow tires on the road and for good reason. If you choose to drive the highway make sure you are equipped to make the trip safely up the road and through the road blocks - carry chains or have snow tires.

Whistler Resort Cabs has chosen to convert a significant number of our fleet to 4-wheel drive Chevrolet Suburbans to make the trip a safe one. Another option if you are making the trip from Vancouver to Whistler is in a Resort Cab…safe and comfortable.

RESULTS!

The Showcase Showdown was a great success for Whistler and Whistler Resort Cabs. Both Chase Conway and Warren Williams made the finals with Warren Williams taking home a 6th place finish. Congratulations Chase and Warren, we are proud of you.

This years event will have a touch of yellow in the snow. Resort Cabs drivers Chase Conway and Warren Williams are retiring their taxi permits for the weekend for the lure of one of Whistler’s classic snowboard contests. The Showdown brings people from all over North America. Chase was unequivical in his contention that “you either go big or you just go home”. He also added that “[Warren] Williams is overrated and that his sponsors will quickly drop him for [Conway] after this weekends event”. Warren refused comment.

When it is all said and done both Warren Williams and Chase Conway will be back in their taxis next weekend getting you where you need to be. Look for them in the yellow taxis numbered 3 and 14.

Good luck to Chase and Warren from your team at Resort Cabs.

With the snow piling up and the 2010 Olympics approaching planning your transportation to and from Whistler is vital. It is a bit self-serving for a principle of Whistler Resort Cabs to suggest taxi transport as the best transportation option but does Matt Hasselback cheer for the Oakland Raiders?

My reasoning follows:

1) Limousine: Most limos to Whistler are SUV’s that can navigate the Whistler’s high mountain road with relative ease. They are generally $150-$200 more than a taxi. The taxis that run up and down the highway are often very similar to the limos on the road so pay less and get almost as much by going with a Whistler Resort taxi.

2) Bus: Most buses are also well equipped for the Sea to Sky Highway. Unless you have less than 3 people in your party taxis are far less expensive and obviously they do not work around your schedule. Take a taxi, pay less and call the shots yourself.

3) Helicopter/Plane: Lots of money and if you decide to do it, take me with you and I’ll take you for a beer when we get to Whistler.

So I hope I have convinced you to ride a Resort Cab as you come to Whistler. If so call us at 604.938.1515.
